Hi there, Internet! My name is Malcolm, and I am a leading content creator and web designer at Socratic University.
For the past few months a small group of people in Laramie, Wyoming have been dreaming up a university. It would have to be free, expansive, and intensive. It would need to cater to all three learning styles: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. It would need integration into all of the social networks people are so fond of using in our modern age. It would need to be more than a collection of random MOOC's designed for really specialized niches. We were actually inspired by these guys, who have shook the world of K-12 education to the core.
Why have we been dreaming up this fantasyland of higher-education? Well, we are sick of high textbook prices and soaring tuition. We are sick of watching our friends sink into deeper and deeper debt, for a system that is outdated and greedy. No. Something has got to give.
That is why I am proud to announce Socratic University. The first fully online, open source, and totally free University. This blog will chronicle its development and content creation over its lifetime. We hope this is the beginning of something great.
Because as Socrates said, "An education obtained with money is worse than no education at all."
